NATIONAL SCHOOL MEALS WEEK

LACA’s National School Meals Week is the one week in the year when we celebrate all that is great about today’s school food, with this year’s activities scheduled for 7th – 11th November 2022.

This year we are encouraging everyone to make a difference to the environment. The week coincides with COP27 which will bring governments together to make global efforts to confront the climate crisis. Each and everyone one of us has a part to play, and our changes however little can add up to great things.

We know most schools have great meat free options, ours certainly do so why not make a change one day of the week and ask your friends and family to do the same. Schools are working hard to reduce plastics and are encouraging you to recycle anything you can.

LACA has plenty of resources to give you ideas about how you make such differences. Their website is: https://www.lacansmw.co.uk/

We’d like everyone to get involved with this year’s theme ‘Together, we make a difference’. We know school meals have such a positive effect on children’s attainment and development, but we as school caterers are also making a huge impact on green issues, lessening our impact on the planet as together, we tackle environmental issues such as reducing food waste, reducing food miles and increasing the amount of plant based foods children eat’

Get your children / pupils involved by downloading the National School Meals Week activities and having those conversations around how food has an impact on the environment.

Enjoy!
