Jersey School Food Standards – Primary Schools

At Flourish, we are committed to delivering school meals that don’t just taste good - they meet strict nutritional standards designed to help your child thrive.

We follow the Jersey School Food Standards for Primary Schools, developed by the Government of Jersey and reviewed by Public Health Jersey. These guidelines ensure every child receives food that supports their physical health, energy, and learning.

What do the Primary School Food Standards cover?

These standards are based on national best practice and include:

  • A balance of fruit, vegetables, wholegrains and protein

  • Reduced salt, saturated fats, and added sugar

  • Appropriate portion sizes for children aged 4 to 11

  • Limiting sweet puddings to once a week

  • No fried food more than once a week

  • Only water and milk served at lunch

  • Clear weekly variety and inclusion of local seasonal produce

How we apply the standards

All Flourish menus are:

  • Created in-house by our award winning chef, Sarah Copp

  • Reviewed by Public Health dietitians

  • Nutritionally analysed to meet the specific needs of primary-aged children

  • Cooked fresh every day and delivered hot to your child’s school
