Caring Cooks support, inspire and educate over 1,000 Islanders every year and we would love your help in continuing to do just that. There are so many ways you can get involved with Caring Cooks and help us support the nutritional needs of children in Jersey, now and in the future.
We are always looking for new volunteers to help in a variety of ways. You could be part of the team on a Saturday that prepare and deliver our Weekly Meal Service. From Le Rocquier School, our team prepare and cook a meal for our families in crisis between 9am and 12pm, which is then delivered in our van to families between 12pm and 2pm. Or you could bake the week’s desserts or cakes at home and deliver them to us at the school before 11am.
Full training is given, and it’s a really lovely way to spend a Saturday morning and we guarantee you will leave with a warm feeling. If you wish to be part of the delivery team, we will require you to complete the Foundation Safeguarding Certificate for Children, which we can arrange for you. Also if you are driving the van, we will require sight of a clean driving licence.
Or you could help with;
It costs Caring Cooks about £10,000 a month to deliver all of our support and education programmes, so fundraising is really vital to ensure we can continue to do this. We would love any help with fundraising, be that coming along to support us at a bag pack or holding a fundraising event yourself.
If you do want to hold an event for us we have lots of marketing materials to help you do that such as bunting, collection boxes, pull up banners and we can also help out promote it through the media and our social media pages. Just get in touch with us.
Could your company get involved too? We have lots of great ideas for getting companies involved and also raising funds for us. Our Let’s Do Lunch campaign in June is a great way to get colleagues engaged through cooking and baking at home and then sharing the fruits of their labour with colleagues in the office, for a donation to Caring Cooks.
Could you host our Smoothie Bike which is a really fun way to get staff engaged while preparing a healthy drink. We have lots of different packages available and can tailor them to the size of your business.
Or could you consider us for your Charity of the Year? It’s likely that some of your employees have children on our Let’s Get Cooking Programme or friends and family who have accessed our services, and through choosing us as your Charity of the Year staff will feel valued and that their employer cares about theirs and their children’s lives.
Gifts in kind
It’s not always money we need and there are lots of other ways to support us.
We are always in need of printer cartridges, specific items of non-perishable food for our Weekly Meal Service, printing services, there are too many things to mention, but if you would like to donate a gift in kind, please get in touch.
Or could you promote our logo on your van to raise awareness or in your shop window? Are you a farmer, food supplier, beekeeper, anything to do with food as we love inviting people to our schools to do fun interactive sessions with the children.
We are currently looking for a Fundraising Trustee to sit on our Board of Trustees who can give up their time to help drive Caring Cooks forward and specifically help support the Board and the organisation with fundraising.
Could you champion Payroll Giving on our behalf with your company? It allows staff to make a donation each month from their pay, and if it’s over £50 at the end of the year, we can claim a further 25% on your donation from Income Tax. It’s a really easy process and we will support you every step of the way to help set it up.
